OMGood grief. An Aaron rents commercial was just on the tv. It showed a woman overjoyed about a new refrigerator. Then it showed her husband over joyed by a new tv. Can we all say " sexist BS"?

The dudes on Fox news need to do their research. The newsman said there was a haboob in Arizona. Then they showed a flash flood. A haboob is a sand storm you morons , not a rain storm.

Update on the yarn bombing , here is a picture.
Poor Jewell.
She was so sad while my hubby, two sons and I went to my husband's mom's house in Ohio. She did pretty good with the girls who could not come with us because they could not get time off from work. Pebbles had no problems, the silly girl.

When we got back Jewell was so happy to see me , Sharon thought she would pass out.
Well, it seems dogs can get intestinal problems from being too exited. She has had diarrhea the last two nights , so tonight I made her some dinner. It is boiled hamburger meat and rice. I mixed it up and she seemed to enjoy it, she ate it all up. So we will see how this works.

Peanuts in stupid places

Why are peanuts in strawberry breakfast bars? I am allergic to the stupid things.

Monday, July 09, 2012

I keep hearing " in this day and age". What is that supposed to mean?......to me it sounds like the speaker is trying to sound profound , but just comes off sounding silly.

Turns out Duchess is fine, she ate something that disagreed with her.So, just the dogs are sick. Pebbles is back to her old, goofy self.. Pebbles is the goof closest to the camera.

Tuesday, July 03, 2012

Ugh, the cats have the same thing as Pebbles does. I am getting medicine for Jewell this afternoon. Gotta get the same thing for the cats. Have you ever tried to give a cat a pill? Not a pretty site.

This is why getting things at the thrift store can be fun.  I was reorganizing some storage boxes and came across a bag of craft marbles and gems. I opened them up to put them in a better package and I found this cool geode.

This is important. If this issue gets thru we may not have the right to resell something we bought. For example , you buy a book , you want to sell it after you read it, you won't be able to without permission from the copyright owner.

Pebbles is doing so much better. Poor thing had a badly impacted anal gland on top of not keeping food down. She is more like his happy , silly self. Her and Jewell are back to chasing the rabbits in the back yard all over the place again.

Ok, this is bad and I do agree that those pods and packets are bad for kids.
BUT,when you have kids and/or animals you have to kid/animal proof your house. That means put the detergent where they can't get to it . Put them under lock and key if you have to. Put all your cleaning stuff away safely. Keep your medicines secured. Lock them up people. A extra step or two to wash your clothes, floors, whatever, is such a little thing to do to keep your kids/animals safe. It is also a lot cheaper to keep things up and away.

Pebbles is back home, she was not thrilled with the trip to the vet. However, she did enjoy seeing the baby horse that was up there. He is half of a set of twins. The doctor told me that when twin horses are born , one of them is usually stillborn. This little guy seems to be doing good, he is now 10 pounds heavier than a newborn foal, he is 16 weeks old. He has issues with his leg bones but she thinks that will resolve. He will most likely be a pet , though, with his leg bone issues he will not be able to be ridden. With being hand raised though, he should be good.

Pebbles has a bacterial infection in her intestines again. Have to give her pills for it and get her tested again in 2 weeks. Hopefully she will be better by then. Here is a picture of her in the car.
Two things you should never do if you are in a hurry. Go to Wal- Mart and the tag agency.

Pebbles the dog

Poor Pebbles. She threw up a couple of times yesterday. I did not feed her hardly anything yesterday. She threw up again during the night so she gets a trip to the vets today. I hope it is nothing serious. She tends to try to eat anything she finds so there is no telling what is going on with that silly girl.
It is amazing how unobservant some people are.

Other Drivers

What is wrong with people? I stop short of a driveway to a store so people can get in or out of it. I have one idiot honk at me.  Then three cars jam in in front of me and block the drive. Then at the the stop sign at the exit off the high way some nut case is in such a hurry he has to swerve around the car coming off the highway.

Ha! It work , now I can go to town

Hmmmm

Ok let's see if this works.
Now I just have to figure out how to post the stuff from my mobile............
Now I can send stuff when I am not on the computer
Took Jacob out to the Air Force Base to get his ID renewed.
I decided to stop at the thrift store by the base that I don't get to very often because of the distance. Just went to what there was to see.  I saw three bags of Zote soap. It is a laundry soap in bar form. It smells better than the Fels Naphtha I have been using to make laundry soap. There were 10 bars in each bag. I got all three of them. When I was at the check out , the younger woman behind commented on them. Turns out she makes her own laundry soap , too. She had been looking for Zote , also. So I let her have one of the bags. They were $3.05 each, that is a hair over 30 cents per bar. It takes one bar to make about 2 months worth of laundry soap. So I have enough soap to make almost two years worth of laundry soap.
The Fel Naphtha costs 98 cents a bar. That seems like a good bargain to me. Plus, being as how Jeff is military retired, I got 25% off the cost, so I basically made out like a bandit and still was able to be generous with out it really impacting me. That is the ultimate in coolness.Plus the cashier put the soap in a reusable bag.

Well , I made dog biscuits today. The dogs love the flavor. I think the recipe is too dry, though. It did not make up into a dough properly. I will try to modify it . Tomorrow I will try a different recipe.

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Just posted this on my facebook wall "I got lots on my mind right now. I was giving the dogs a meaty bone brand dog biscuit. I reached into the box and pulled one out , and it pocked me. I thought it was just a broken biscuit. I looked at it and it was a piece of wire, it was sticking out about a 1/4 inch , I pulled it out of the biscuit and it is about a half inch long. I was thinking about making my own dog biscuits, now I am going to do it"

So , the first time I made dishwasher soap it did not work very well. It cleaned the dishes, but they were cloudy. Got rid of that batch, tried again.
I used a recipe I found on Pinterest. I modified it however, but we have hard water. I used :
2 cups washing soda (NOT baking soda)
2 cups Borax
2 cups of rock salt (the original called for kosher salt, but the rock is cheaper, not as pretty , but that does not            affect the end product)
2 cups of Lemishine

mix it up and put it in an air tight container. Be prepared for it to become a solid chunk since the Lemishine attracts moisture, just break it up with a knife and use it that way, I use 1/8 cup per load unless it is really dirty. I use a coffee measure cup to scoop it out.

All of these ingredients can be found at Wal Mart. The Borax, Washing soda, and Fels Naphtha (use for home made laundry detergent) are found next to each other in the laundry area. The Lemishine is found by the dishwasher soaps.
The salt just depends on the time of year as to where that will be. Don't use table salt, for some reason it won't work as well.

If you are worried about using the borax or washing soda on your dishes, just read the ingredients on your dishwasher detergent box. The first two are the borax and soda. The last one says "enzymes", enzymes are the citric acid (limishine) and salt. At least that is what it says on the finish box which is what I have been using.

Have fun ,

Hey folks, my dryer is fixed. It cost $250. It should have only cost $65. We had one repair place come over and the technician looked at one thing, said the timer was bad. He went to the office and then called and left a message that he could not find one and we owed him $50. I looked up the part on line and found it for $107. Bought it , got it in the mail, hubby installed it, pulgged the dryer in , turned it on and nothing happened. Well, we called a technician that was a friend of one of the guys my hubby works with. He came over , inspected the dyer, checked some key electrical points. Found the issue and had it fixed in less than half an hour. The problem was a wire that had come off the door switch.

Turns out we did not need the timer. My husband did not have any cash when the first technician was over , so he said he would bill us. Well, we are not going to pay his bill, I am calling the shop owner Tuesday and telling him that his incompetent technician cost $107 dollars that we really could have used for better things than a part we did not need, and he needs to retrain his technicians, and teach them the difference between cat food pellets and cat poo on the floor, but that is another story and I NEVER have poo on the floor that I let be, my floors may not be clean enough to eat off of, (but then who honestly does ) but they are clean enough to sit or lie on if need be. Don't want to get started on that one so I will leave it for now.

Smile at strangers , makes them wonder what you are up too............

Well, the homemade soap works just fine, the dryer however, does not . It went out 3 weeks ago. It is a pain in the *ahem not having a dryer and I don't like to go to the laundromat so the clothes get hung up all over the house on hangers.

The homemade dishwasher soap did not work very well, the dishes were clean, but stayed cloudy, so I will do research on how to clear that problem up , but in the mean time I am using the store bought stuff.

Made some emergency candles with some old coffee cups we don't use and reclaimed wax from old birthday number candles. Here is a secret about that, unless they are a solid color, the coloring on them is paint, cut it off before you put them in your metal pour pot, the paint sticks and won't wash out.I had some old pillar candles and I got a sack of them at the thrift store , so I have about 12 emergency candles with handles for this storm season. Now that I have made them , we will not have any power issues this year.

Our 12 year old lawn mower was stolen last month. Just got it back from the repair man. Jacob was using it in the front yard, came in for a drink, went back out and it was gone in less that 5 minutes. We went ahead and filed a police report.

Well that is it for now, I don't feel good , had a 24 hour stomach thing and now my ribs hurt from getting sick.
Have fun folks.
Todays entry in the silly dogs saga.
Daddy (hubby Jeff) came home an hour early, the dogs barked like he was a burglar. "you are not supposed to come home early"
Crazy animals.

another entry in the crazy dog saga. We have an old big screen tv in the living room , it is broke so we don't use it . My silly Pebbles was sleeping, she woke up a little, and the light must have been shining on the screen just right. Suddenly she jumps up, all the hackles on her back standing up , crouched like she was ready for a fight and started barking at the tv. The other dog is "what! where? what are you barking at?"......Pebbles was barking at her reflection in the screen of the tv...........this was Wednesday this week.

Been using the homemade laundry soap for a while now. It seems to be working great. Using vinegar with lavender essential oil for fabric rinse . For the first time in a long time the towels actually smell like towels. I don't know what it is with our water, but the towels always smell funny no matter how they are washed.
More later

Just posted this comment on my Facebook , wall, "What's on my it asks? How about a post I just saw , and blocked the poster. It said to throw Islam out of the US. Problem is this sounds like what people were saying in 1942. OH no Japan attacked us , throw all the Japanese Americans in camps. Oh no we are Germans , throw all the Jews and Gypsys and the handicapped in a prison camp. Radical anything is bad , be it Islam, Catholics, Jews, United Methodists, Mormans, whatever. This country would be a lot better off if it learned tolerance instead of prejudice. ....Oh and by the way , my wall is not a democracy, if you reply and it is nasty I will delete your post and might just block you. Have a nice day :)"

Hope everyone agrees,

Homemade laundry soap

Well, it has been about 24 hours since I made my laundry soap, I am getting ready to put it into the containers so I can use it .I will let you know how it goes. Also, I am going to try the vinegar with lavender oil to see if that works good for a laundry rinse.

Laundry Soap

Well, I made some laundry soap tonight. I will let you know how it works.........

Pets

I miss the pets that died of old age complications, but I am ok with their loss , they lived a good life. The ones I mourn are the ones that died too early, a two year old cat that died from lymphoma, a 2 year old cat that we think died of heart worm infection, a 5 year that had a ruptured aorta from a car accident (all my animals are inside animals now), an 8 year old cat died from complications of bladder syndrome, a 2 and half year old boxer/pit mix who was beaten by a previous owner (I rescued her from the street) , she developed seizures that caused rage attack, I had to put her down after she almost hurt my other dog. These animals I miss the most , like humans  that pass before their time, these are the ones that are hardest to deal with.
