Doing better

Hey folks,
I am doing better. I still miss Ruby , but it is getting easier to deal.

Now, for some pet peeves.....................the people who make pop-ups and viruses ought to be flogged or something. I have spent a good portion of two days trying to get rid of some Trojans. spy ware, and a browser hi-jacker. It is a real pain......argh!!!!!........just had another one pop-up.I have STOPzilla running right now , we will see how well it does. My virus protector caught part of it , but some slipped through. I bet a bunch of new ones were just let loose.

In other news , I just finished a small wolf picture for Liz, just gotta get it framed.
I am working on a stamped cross stitch baby quilt for a co-worker/friend of my husband's.
I think it will be really cute, I am going to line it with some blue polyester satin when I get done.

Christmas was good , my daughter Sharon and her fiance got me a Victoria's Secret cologne, perfume and body lotion set. It is really pretty, not too strong.

I got Jeff a DVD recorder to hook up to the TV. It was a really good price, got it on sale. Jeff
is excited, he likes to record baseball stuff and will be able to save a bunch of space by getting rid of a bunch of VCR tapes.

Joe got himself his first car. It is a red version of my car, has a good amount of miles on it , but is in over all great shape. He is doing good, right now he is doing his monthly reserve duty. He worked at a temp job for the fall and is going for an interview next week for a permanent job.

Jacob got a harmonica for Christmas , he is really committed to learning how to play it. He is
enjoying it a lot. That was one of the best gifts he got he said, not sure if he likes the harmonica or the Narutoo game he got better.

Well, time to go , I have to go to work tomorrow. Be nice when we win the lottery , then I wont have to go to work....................ha ha ha . like that will ever happen. Well , good night, be back later.

Sad Day (there is one "bad" word in this post)

Hello everyone.
Today is a sad day for us.
We had to put one of our dogs to sleep . She attacked our other dog again . The time before this Jewell just got her ear bit. This time Ruby had hold of the side and throat of Jewell's neck .
The only thing that saved Jewell is that she has a lot of loose skin around her neck and Ruby could not bite down.We got them apart and I got bit by Ruby . When she realized what she had done , she looked real scared. I think she scared herself. Ruby was abused before I found her. She was afraid of everything. That fear did not go away , it just got worse. The poor thing could not control it anymore. Ruby was not able to overcome her fear. She was spayed , that helps sometimes. I was afraid she would hurt someone else or one of our other animals. I would not give her away, that would just make her more afraid. I did not want her to hurt someone else.
I have always said I would not have an aggressive dog. It is not fair to the dog , she could not be a dog, her fears were getting the best of her.
So we had to release from her fears. She has gone to be with God over the Rainbow Bridge.
She was a good dog and we loved her. She will be missed. The holes she dug in the yard were not that big a deal. Dirt takes care of the holes.
I loved the way her whole body would wiggle and giggle when she saw you. She loved to give you kisses. They were sloppy, but that is what water and soap are for.
Good by Ruby , you were a good dog. You will be missed. I just wish I could find the bastard that hurt you and made you afraid . I would introduce him to real fear so he would know what fear is like.

pictures of the marine

Here is Joe's dad, Joe and his little brother
Jacob

today is Sunday, July 13, 2008

Hello everyone.
Talked to Joe again. He is still at training camp, probably wont be home until September, bummer,
but he will be home eventually.
He is supposed to get a strip within the next two weeks. He says he is OK, I think he is enjoying himself , except when he thinks about being away from the family. There is quite a bit of down time. One of those "hurry and wait in line " type of things.
He is anxious to get his training over with and then get back home to start his reserve marine career.
At least we get to either talk to him every day or email him.Sometimes we don't hear from him directly, he will call Ashlee, his girlfriend, first if he does not have much time. Which is fine, he needs to talk to her , too. As long as we know he is doing OK , that is all we need at this point.
I would love to have him home, but I know he has to do this to get ahead, and on with his life.
In other news I got a C-PAP machine, it is what you use when you have sleep apnea. I got that about a month ago and I already feel better. The swelling in my feet is much better, and I feel more rested in the morning, don't feel like I will fall asleep at the computer at work.
Started giving the dogs some supplementary fish oil with their food. Poor Ruby , the boxer mix has such dry skin , she scratches all the time. She is still scratching, but the pads of her feet and Jewell's feet feel a little bit better already.
Leo , one of our cats , now has diabetes. He is doing pretty good with GlipiZide. It is the same medicine doctors give to people. When we took him into the vet because he was loosing a lot of weight , fast, his blood sugar was 400, that is way too high. A cat's blood sugar level should be the same as a humans. That value is around 95. When we took him back for a two week check his sugar level was down to 210. That is a great response to the medicine. If he was going to need insulin, we would have had to euthanize him, cats don't do to good on insulin , it is really expensive and with other cats would be too hard to manage.Lucky for him and us he is doing good on the pills. He is getting his appetite back. Still acts like a baby though, gives us dirty looks when we give him his medicine, but he does not fight it, it is like he knows he has to have the medicine to stay healthy.
All the other cats are doing just fine.Still goofy animals, they keep us entertained.
Well, that is all for now.
be back later.

Joe is a Marine

Hey all, been a while since I was on here.
Well, Joe made it through boot camp, he came out as a Private. He did really good.
We had a visit and now he has left again for more training .
We got a good deal on our flight and hotel by going through Military.com. Jeff is
registered on that website because he has now retired from the Air Force Reserves.
We got very good deals from United Airlines. I was wondering why ExpressJet was not
on Military.com. Well, when I called them , I was told that ExpressJet does not give
discounts to anyone , including the military. I think that is dumb, especially considering one
of the places they go to is the same city that the marine boot camp is at.
Well, anyway, we had a good visit and now he has gone again for a while.
Here he is at boot camp.

Letter from Joe

We got a letter from Joe yesterday.
Did not say much in it , but then he did not have much time to write. He had to put in the letter stuff like , don't send food , don't decorate the envelope.....He does not want to bring extra attention from the DI to himself. The recruits get enough one on one time with the DI as it is.

From what I have been told the stuff you see in the TV shows and movies is pretty accurate. The last thing you want is more than the normal amount of the DI telling you what a mommas boy you are or you are a sissy or whatever he is picking on you now.

The weather here is cold right now. It is getting down into the 20's at night. It is supposed to start warming up now. The daffodils in my garden say so anyway, there is one little blossom is
trying to poke it's little out of the ground. The flower bed faces the west, so I generally get daffodils before the folks across the street. So spring is coming. Then again we can get some of our worst snow storms in March. So who knows , we just have to wait and see what happens.

My hubby is in the choir at church , he enjoys that a lot, unfortunately I am usually working on Sunday. So , I don't get to see him sing very often. I am hoping I am off on Easter though. Can you believe it is so soon already, March 23!...

Then again , I am supposed to have my schedule at least 3 weeks at a time. Guess what? Ain't happening. We have to go to one of the supervisors to get the schedule . That is a big pain. It is also very irritating. One of the things we agreed on was that we would have our schedules for 3 weeks out. Other wise I am not sure I would have taken a flex shift. A flex shift is where your days off will vary, number 1 pain the sit-down, and the start time-end time changes from week to week. Number 2 pain in the sit-down, start times are anywhere from 6:ooam to 8:45 am.
Going home time is anywhere from 2:45 to 5:30pm.Last week I had to be to work at 6:00am. this week I had to be in at 8:30pm. Next week I have to be in at 8:00am. Got stickers on the calendars so I know when I should be coming and going.

Well , that is enough rambling for now , be back again later, maybe with some pictures.

Joe and the Marines

Our oldest son left for Marine boot camp on Febuary 11,2008. He will be there for 14 weeks. We have not heard from him yet , but we were told to expect that. By the end of the week we should have his address at boot camp so we can write to him . If you are family or friend, call us and we will give you his address. Main thing is :no cookies, no perfumed letters, nothing that will bring undo attention to Joe. He will get enough attention as it is.

Oh, I need to ask. Has anyone tried to find stationary lately? I looked and looked at Wal~Mart and found two sets, both to fuffy for me , let alone for mailing to a marine. There is now such thing as a stationary department anymore. It is terrible, what is this world coming to?

It is getting pretty scary out there.

(I snagged this picture from flickr, I hope they don't mind)

Human Rights

Yesterday , the federal government of the United States of America indicted the people that are believed to have had a hand in planning the attacks on 9/11.
The man that is accused of planning the attack is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. His confession to his role was obtained by a torture process called water boarding. It looks to me like trying to drown a person and then revive them. And yes I used the word TORTURE. It is an ugly word. A word we use to describe how foriegn countries treat prisoners. Not a word that should be in the American Justice System, and yet there it is for all the world to see.

I don't care what justification is used to say torture is ok. My opinion and the opinion of the United States Of America's founding fathers is that , everyone, repeat EVERYONE is entitled to just treatment. It does not distinguish between citizens and non citizens. It does not say, it is ok to torture that dark skined man over there because we think he bombed a building. He is innocent until proven guilty.

The men or women who tortured this man are criminals too. Mohammed's confession should be thrown out and he should be relased. He will not get a fair trial. His keepers screwed up royally by using torture on him. Who among you would not confess to anything your TORTURER wanted you to just so you could stand up and not feel like you were drowning.

If his keepers were so sure he did what he was accused of , why did they not use that evidence to convict him. Why did they have to torture him? Were they not confident they got the right man?Oh, and don't forget this man , regardless of how you feel about him, he is a man with basic human rights. We believe in human rights so strongly we even have a constitutional amendment that says that everyone has rights that are not to be infringed on because of their sex, their ETHNIC origins, among other things. Yet , those that are supposed to be the keepers of these ideals that we hold deat to our hearts, have violated that trust.

I dare anyone out to say I am not being patriotic by saying it was wrong to torture Mohammed. I am being patriotic by saying we should not condone this activity by remaining silent.
My children are patriotic because they agree that no one should be judged by the color of thier skin. Justice is not just for the people that we pick and choose, it is for everyone.Even Hitler and every despot there has ever been on earth deserve to have a fair hearing before thier peers.

When we start to condone torture in any form, we cease to be this great country that stands for justice and become the enemy. Do not look to closely for the enemy, because he/she might just be lookng back at you in the mirror. Take a look at the person in mirror. Do you like what you see?Do you see a person that believes in the sanctity of life, regardless of what religion they practice?Do you see a person that does not see the color of a man when you look at him?Do you see a man who will prove himself by his actions? Do like what you see in the mirror?Would you be ashamed to face your god?If you believe in God. I would like everyone to believe in God. But I don't base my feelings about a person on that belief. I base them on how that person is. I have seen people that called themselves godly, ministers even, that are just as animalistic as the meanest , nastiest mass murdering scum in the world. What you call yourself is not what you are, what you do is what you are.

Enough said
